Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for directing the Company's financial activity, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cost accounting, internal controls, auditing, cash flow management, banking relationships, and regulatory reporting.

This role is ideal for an experienced financial leader who combines strong manufacturing cost accounting capability with sound judgment, high ethical standards, systems thinking, and the ability to develop people. The successful candidate will support Open Book Management and help strengthen accountability and employee ownership across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct the accurate and timely preparation of income statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, and reports required by government regulatory agencies.
• Lead financial goal setting, budget preparation, forecasting, internal audit activities, and periodic financial and operating reporting.
• Review sales, profit, expense, and cash projections against actual results; explain variances and recommend corrective action.
• Safeguard company assets and maintain effective accounting policies, internal controls, reporting processes, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform detailed financial and cost analyses; develop and interpret manufacturing cost accounting information; and ensure proper accounting for transactions.
• Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, and services by comparing actual costs with quotes, standards, and expected returns.
• Analyze operations to identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved resource utilization, systems enhancement, expansion, reorganization, downsizing, or elimination.
• Partner with department leaders by providing financial analyses, reports, recommendations, and practical support for business decisions.
• Develop strategic business plans and evaluate economic trends, revenue opportunities, capital requirements, acquisitions, and expansion prospects.
• Strengthen the Company's cash position, maintain reliable cash flow projections, manage banking and financing relationships, and help secure capital for growth.
• Create, coordinate, and improve financial and management information systems so technology supports internal and external customer needs.
• Lead complex problem resolution, build strong internal and external relationships, and communicate the support required to execute agreed-upon programs.
• Select, coach, evaluate, and develop Accounting team members; manage performance and disciplinary action; and build succession depth.
• Set department goals, support the principles of Open Book Management, and model the responsibilities of employee ownership.

Key Qualifications

• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or an MBA; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Ten years of financial management experience, including professional experience in an organizational management role.
• Controller or CFO experience in a manufacturing organization is preferred.
• CPA and/or CMA designation is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, internal controls, manufacturing cost accounting, and business planning.
• Current knowledge of financial and accounting computer applications, with advanced Microsoft Excel and strong Microsoft Word skills.
• Proven ability to evaluate the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and make sound decisions in complex situations where no precedent exists.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills, including team selection, coaching, performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and organizational skills; able to communicate clearly and persuasively at all levels and serve as a trusted educator and mentor.
• High ethical standards, professional judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Experience with negotiations, contracts, report writing, business correspondence, and procedure development.
