JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager of Volunteer Operations (Paid Position)
 

Employer: Martin Luther King Community Center  

DEPARTMENT: Administration 

REPORTS TO: Manager of Volunteer Operations

Salary: $21.00/hour 

Hours: 9:00am to 4:00pm – 3 days per week (preferably Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

SUMMARY: 

The Assistant Manager of Volunteer Operations is a paid position and is responsible for providing operational and administrative support to the Manager of Volunteer Operations. This position works closely with the Manager of Volunteer Operations and MLK Program Coordinators. The Assistant Manager of Volunteer Operations helps to support the effective operation of our robust volunteer community through scheduling, database administration and recordkeeping. This role is vital to the volunteer experience and the success of our many programs that serve and support our diverse community.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assists in the operation and upkeep of Bloomerang Volunteer. 
  • Generates routine reports on volunteer participation, hours and engagement. 
  • Monitors database accuracy and perform regular audits of records. 
  • Assists volunteers with system access, account updates and basic troubleshooting. 
  • Assists with documentation related to volunteer programs, procedures and workflows. 
  • Ensure records are complete, accurate and up to date. 
  • Monitors upcoming shifts and proactively fill vacancies. 
  • Assists in managing schedule changes, cancellations, and substitutions. 
  • Assists with planning volunteer staffing needs for special events and projects. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. 
  • Assist volunteers with responsibilities when necessary. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • One to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Employment contingent upon successful background screening. 
  • Computer skills required: 
  • Database Management (Bloomerang Volunteer); 
  • Spreadsheet Software (Excel); 
  • Word Processing Software (Word); and 
  • Electronic Mail Software (Outlook). 
  • Other skills required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Capacity to juggle competing tasks and responsibilities.
