Specific Responsibilities:
This is a Distributed Computer Systems Analyst position within the Information Technology Office at 800 Clematis Street and reports to the Computer & Info Systems Manager I-SES. Responsible for providing support for end-users of multifunction automated office systems within Florida Department of Health Department (FDOH) LAN and WAN network. This position is a local point of reporting problems, sending written service requests and maintaining a software library. This position requires independent judgment, initiative, applying general knowledge of business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions including but not limited to, servers, routers and switches and software utilized by Information Technology. Responsible for coordinating work and assisting other employees. This position travels and will provide support to several health centers.
This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures. Confidential sets: Computer Data (IT). This position has the responsibilities to view confidential information and requires access to Florida Shots, Health Management System (HMS), Employee Activity Reports (EARs) and Daily Activity Reports (DAR) databases.
Receives end-users help desk ticket requests and determines appropriate solutions and resolves problems within the allotted time. Provides feedback to Information Technology staff and End-users within a status report on the help request via e-mail and/or verbal communication.
Configure, deliver and install Distributed Computer Systems and equipment at the end-users site according to FDOH standard configuration and/or end-user specifications. Install vendor software and hardware patches and upgrades to the agency's Distributed Computer Systems.
Provides support for FDOH network operating systems. Specific duties will be determined by the Computer and Information Systems Manager or designee and may include but not limited to backups, end-user addition/deletions, routine maintenance and security logs.
Configure, install and support the FDOH LAN and WAN networking equipment.
Contact data communications providers to resolve problems with data circuit and telecommunications hardware and software between the agency and host/remote sites. Documents all transactions between agency and communications providers regarding data and voice connectivity problems
Maintains an accurate inventory of agency distributed computer systems hardware and software and ensures licensing compliance.
Develops and writes procedures for installation, use and solving problems of computer systems and data communications hardware and software. Instructs end-users in the proper use of computer equipment.
Assist end-users and Information Technology staff in preparations of all Florida Department of Health-Palm Beach standard configurations included but not limited to the Florida Department of Health - Palm Beach Health Information Technology's (IT) policies, procedures, acquisition of hardware, software and peripherals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities to proficiently use Microsoft Mail, Word, Excel and Outlook Mail, etc.
  • Knowledge using computers running MS Windows Operating Systems and diagnosing, troubleshooting, configuration, installation, and maintenance of all computer equipment.
  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of computers and software.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and/or computer systems analysis.
