Job description

Hunter Engineering is looking for a skilled Designer/CAD Technician to produce high-quality civil engineering and surveying plans. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects and develop technical expertise in site design and plan production.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare civil engineering plans including grading, drainage, utility, and paving plans
  • Create survey plats, exhibits, and legal descriptions
  • Develop construction details and standard sheets
  • Process field survey data and prepare base mapping
  • Perform design calculations, earthwork calculations, and quantity takeoffs
  • Coordinate with engineers and surveyors throughout design process
  • Incorporate redline markups and address review comments
  • Maintain drawing standards and template libraries
  • Assist with 3D modeling and visualization
  • Perform quality control checks on drawings
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree or technical certification in CAD/Drafting preferred
  • 3+ years of CAD production experience, preferably in civil engineering or surveying
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and surveying plan sets
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center or other survey software
  • Familiarity with GIS software
  • Knowledge of local agency CAD standards and requirements
