Position: Application Developer IV

Location: 3535 Colonnade Parkway, Birmingham, AL 35243
Duration: 6 Months

Client: Southern Company.


Position Overview

The Application Developer IV is responsible for gathering business requirements, documenting technical specifications, developing software solutions, implementing applications, and providing ongoing production support within the Coal Services area of Commercial Operations.

This role works closely with Technology Organization (TO) teams and business partners to translate operational needs into scalable Microsoft-based technical solutions. The ideal candidate has strong experience in .NET/C#, Blazor development, and enterprise application lifecycle management. Southern Company experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Analysis

  • Collaborate with customers and business stakeholders to gather and document application requirements
  • Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications
  • Participate in solution design discussions and architecture planning

Application Development

  • Design and develop custom and in-house applications using:
    • .NET framework
    • C#
    • Blazor
    • Microsoft technology stack
  • Build scalable, maintainable business solutions
  • Ensure applications align with enterprise architecture standards

Implementation & Support

  • Lead application implementation and deployment activities
  • Provide ongoing application support and troubleshooting
  • Maintain and enhance existing applications as business needs evolve
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and performance optimization

Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • Technology Organization (TO) teams
    • Business partners
    • Commercial Operations stakeholders
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and system integrations

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience gathering and documenting application requirements
  • Strong hands-on development experience with:

  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise business applications
