Job Duties:
The UW-Green Bay Esports Lounge opened in February 2022 in the University Union. The Lounge now boasts 30 gaming PCs and 4 Nintendo Switch consoles open for all students to use and is open 12 hours per day on weekdays and 7 hours per day on the weekends during the semester. Additionally, the program now holds competitive teams in 6 game titles: Rocket League, VALORANT, League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and has an in-house broadcast studio to livestream as many matches as possible. These teams primarily compete in the Wisconsin Esports Conference, which will often culminate in a regional LAN event prior to the championship LAN. Each team's experience centers on a central goal for that semester, and practice schedules are built along with the student-athletes in alignment with their goals. Rosters are built on open tryouts up to 3 times per year with student-athlete feedback, and student leadership is a significant driver of the team environment.
UW-Green Bay Esports Game Coaches serve as the head coach for Valorant and is responsible for leading the team to competitive success as defined by the team while fostering student development. This is a flexible work environment role which can be either in-person or remote (though in-person attendance is preferred).
Key Job Responsibilities:
a) Provide player and team development for the assigned game title.
b) Support the holistic development of student-athletes both in and out of competition.
c) Attend and oversee all formal varsity team practices, matches, and reviews.
d) Work alongside the Esports Coordinator to implement the team's plan to attain their goal(s).
e) Construct effective tactics and strategies with the team.
f) Work alongside the Esports Coordinator to establish the roster(s) prior to the start of the season, when possible.
g) Serve as primary point of contact for team-related communications with opponents and internal stakeholders.
h) Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree at time of application
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in competitive play for the game title of hire
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Is not affiliated with another competing collegiate team in the active competition(s)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree at time of application
  • 1 year as dedicated coach for team in specific game title OR 2 years as individual/personal consultant coach in specific game title
  • Can attend all team activities in-person on Green Bay campus
Conditions of Appointment:
Position is flexible. In-person attendance preferred but not required. Travel not expected
The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel to or work at the Marinette, Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus, based on operational needs.
Position is a 25% Limited appointment. A pre-employment education check which includes, but is not limited to, the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s) and if there is prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct.
