- Implement and test data processing workflows and automated analysis pipelines. Optimize reproducible software pipelines that produce consistent, standardized results.
- Oversee workflow bench marking and testing, identifying inconsistencies and resolving issues.
- Contribute to management of computing hardware, operational logistics, and data warehousing.
- Contribute to the preparation of standard operating procedures, document source code/workflows, and write reports to summarize computational requirements, processing status, and customized analysis results.
- Communicate and interact regularly with project team members and stakeholders.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced proficiency working in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Advanced proficiency using version control software (e.g., Git) to manage programming code.
- Advanced proficiency with C++.
- Proficiency in developing software user interfaces.
- Proficiency with open-source software, tools, and databases for analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
- Proficiency with at least one programming or run-time interpreted programming language.
- Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment/Delivery (CI/CD).
- Experience managing a development project including multiple teams.
- Familiarity with issue and project tracking software.
- Skilled at time and priority management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Preferred: Proficiency with Python.
- Preferred: proficiency with R, RMarkdown, and the "tidyverse" tools for data analysis.
- Preferred: Experience with NextFlow, SnakeMake, or similar workflow/pipeline management systems.
- Preferred: Proficiency working with and developing using containerization technology.
- Preferred: Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure cloud computing.
Education/Experience:
- Required: 5+ years of previous work experience in a full-stack developer role
- Required: BS/BA in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field
- Preferred: MS or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field
- Preferred: Experience managing and analyzing large-scale datasets produced by DNA sequencing platforms and delivering solutions for managing, visualizing, analyzing, and interpreting genomic data
Clearance:
- This position requires that the candidate be willing and able to complete a successful background screening for a security clearance. Candidates with a current security clearance will receive preference.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Serve as a task leader within one or more projects.
Working Conditions/ Equipment:
