WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 9:30am - 6:00pm

COMPENSATION: $78,419.25/year + DOE + Benefits, Exempt Regular Full-Time Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The IT Systems & Network Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, and maintenance of the college's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, software, and user systems. This role provides both Tier 1 and Tier 2 support, contributes to long-term planning and project implementation, and ensures the security and reliability of campus-wide technology systems.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and maintain LAN/WAN networks, wireless systems, servers, access points, and endpoint devices.
  • Deploy, configure, and monitor servers, storage systems, and network devices to ensure availability and performance.
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory, group policies, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to end users and resolve escalated issues.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot user accounts, system permissions, shared resources, and email accounts.
  • Ensure that IT security practices are consistently followed across all systems, networks, and cloud services.
  • Track and maintain IT assets, including computers, laptops, printers, and network equipment.
  • Research and recommend hardware/software upgrades, standardization, and technology improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for network architecture, system configurations, and license compliance.
  • Participate in IT planning, purchasing, and budgeting in coordination with the IT team.
  • Assist in administering VoIP systems, surveillance cameras, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., LMS, email).
  • Collaborate on special projects as assigned by the IT Manager or Analyst.
  • Provide weekly system performance reports and participate in IT policy/procedure development.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends through forums, training, and peer networking.
  • Support Inupiaq cultural integration and engage respectfully in a multicultural work environment.
  • Works on specialized projects as required.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures, and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Windows Server Administration: Strong understanding of Windows Server environments (2019, 2022, and current), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
  • Network Fundamentals: In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure, TCP/IP, firewalls, switches (Juniper/Cisco), routing protocols, and network troubleshooting.
  • IT Security Best Practices: Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including user access control, network security, antivirus/malware defense, and system auditing.
  • Cloud Services: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, or Google Workspace.
  • Systems Monitoring & Maintenance: Experience using tools for network monitoring, alerting, performance tracking, and diagnostics.
  • Hardware/Software Deployment: Knowledge of imaging, patching, remote software installation, and maintaining inventory.
  • Help Desk Support: Understanding of support ticket workflows, user troubleshooting, and service documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Inupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Ilisagvik College's mission.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/EXPERIENCE [Required]:

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with Windows Server administration, network troubleshooting, and systems support.
  • Experience with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VoIP, and network protocols (TCP/IP, SMTP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, backups, security, and endpoint management.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of IT experience in an educational or enterprise setting.
  • Industry certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSA, CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Juniper switches, Windows Server 2019-2025, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
  • Valid driver's license.

Ilisagvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/pay period for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance - IlisagvikCollege offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
