Position Summary

This is a senior individual contributor role focused on supporting and evolving McKesson's hybrid cloud and enterprise network environment. They will help design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure solutions across Azure and on-premises platforms while driving automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

The position is well-suited for someone with a strong blend of cloud, networking, and infrastructure engineering expertise who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving platform reliability, and collaborating across architecture, operations, and security teams.

What You'll Do
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure systems to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Contribute to cloud and on-premises infrastructure initiatives while following enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Assist with infrastructure project delivery by completing assigned engineering tasks, documenting work, and coordinating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Support network capacity planning activities, including monitoring trends, identifying performance constraints, and recommending optimization opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents and service issues, escalating highly complex or business-critical problems when appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts, configuration templates, and infrastructure-as-code practices to support repeatable and reliable deployments.
  • Participate in governance activities related to SLAs, OLAs, security controls, compliance requirements, and operational readiness.
  • Evaluate new tools, technologies, and process improvements under the guidance of senior technical team members.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet Company goals.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent experience and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Critical Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, network engineering, cloud engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience supporting infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience with Azure required; exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud platforms preferred.
  • Strong understanding of network engineering concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, BGP, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience with automation or orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and container platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience monitoring infrastructure performance, supporting capacity planning, and identifying reliability or cost optimization opportunities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and collaborate with senior engineers during major incidents or escalations.
  • Understanding of enterprise security, compliance, change management, and governance practices.
  • Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills / Experience
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud networking environments.
  • Exposure to DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring, observability, and incident management tools.
  • Ability to influence technical discussions, partner across teams, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
