About Epirus

Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting role an innovative, high-growth defense technology company. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer, Electromagnetic Laboratory to oversee our multi-client testing facility. In this role, you will develop and own technical lab operations from the ground up, mentor a small team of motivated test engineers, and serve as the primary engineering consultant for our aerospace, defense, and commercial clients. You will lead test execution for RF, Antenna Over-the-Air (OTA), and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing, helping clients troubleshoot failures in real time. The ideal candidate blends deep electromagnetic testing technical expertise with excellent project management and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and own daily technical lab operations of two large anechoic chambers and associated RF test equipment.
  • Act as the technical lead and mentor for a small team of motivated test engineers
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Epirus and our aerospace, defense, and commercial clients throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Execute complex RF, Antenna OTA, and EMC measurements and tests to client statements of work and aerospace/defense standards.
  • Develop automation scripts (Python, MATLAB) to optimize test time and streamline data collection.
  • Provide active engineering support to clients to assist in troubleshooting failures and analyze data to produce compliance-ready test reports and certificates.
  • Oversee lab scheduling and project prioritization to efficiently balance multiple client accounts.
  • Interface regularly with the larger test engineering organization in Torrance, CA to further refine test methodology and measurement techniques.
  • Manage the calibration and preventative maintenance schedules for all laboratory assets.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of experience (with B.S.) or 3-5 years of experience (with M.S.) in RF, Antenna OTA, or EMC Test.
  • Solid theoretical understanding of RF, Antenna OTA, and EMC test and measurement principles.
  • Highly proficient in using RF test and measurement equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Spectrum Analyzers, High-Speed Oscilloscopes, Waveform & Signal Generators, Power Meters, AutoCal and SOLT Calibration.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace and defense testing standards including MIL-STD-461 and DO-160.
  • Experience developing automated test stands for various types of hardware.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing feedback aligned with the principles of radical candor.
  • Experience with client-facing project management, particularly communicating changes to schedule and technical scope.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (future security clearance may be required).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience as a people manager – building teams, developing young talent, and defining team roadmaps.
  • Experience certifying a laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025 and/or AS9100.
  • Experience working in a multi-client or commercial test house environment.
  • Deep knowledge of other defense and commercial testing standards including MIL-STD-810, CISPR, IEC 61000, and ISO (automotive EMC).
  • Comfortable with object‑orientated programming using Python.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
