As we continue to expand, we are searching for a Mortgage Loan Officer to join our amazing Jeffersonville team!


The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for proactively soliciting new residential mortgage clients and developing a strong network of referral partners. This role originates 1st mortgage loans through external referrals and existing members while building relationships with realtors, builders, title companies, and other industry partners. The Mortgage Loan Officer guides borrowers through the mortgage process, evaluates their financial situation, and recommends appropriate loan products. The position reports to the Mortgage Sales Manager for loan-origination processes and compliance and to the Market President for sales and mentoring when applicable; if no Market President exists for the area, all reporting flows through the Mortgage Sales Manager.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform 60% outside sales.
  • Originate and evaluate mortgage loan applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required documentation.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and other internal teams to facilitate a smooth loan approval and closing process.
  • Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines in accordance with Heritage and secondary market investors.
  • Meets with prospective clients at their preferred location, not limited to a Heritage location to understand their lending needs, including first-time mortgages and refinance of existing loans.
  • Attends loan closings at title companies as a standard business development tool for more referrals.
  • Professionally cross-sells credit union products and services.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • One to three years of experience in the mortgage origination industry is required.
  • Three to Five years in outside sales experience is required.
  • NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing System) License or the ability to obtain one.
  • A strong knowledge of mortgage loan products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements is required.
  • Knowledge of secondary market mortgage lending requirements is required.
  • Excellent communication and public relations abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
