Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Marketing Finance, the Senior Manager, Midstream Finance will be the key contact for the accounting analysis of complex transactions, derivative/hedge accounting, crossโ€‘functional business partnering, and process efficiencies and improvements within the Midstream business unit. The role will collaborate across departments to identify and assess accounting issues, provide direct support on commercial activities, drive process efficiencies, and work with Corporate to execute the Management Discussion and Analysis and Annual Information Form.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the derivatives accounting function including financial settlements and MTM accounting assessments.
  • Maintain and operate the process of identifying accounting assessments required within business transactions.
  • Review and present technical accounting memoranda on complex transactions to meet strategic reporting objectives and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Provide advice and guidance on technical accounting matters to internal stakeholders, including summaries of accounting issues.
  • Build effective relationships and partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor corporate accounting policies and management reporting metrics as appropriate, including legal entity accounting review and improvements.
  • Assist external reporting with preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and other externally released financial information such as the Annual Information Form (AIF).
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiency within the Midstream Finance team.
  • Manage projects associated with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory changes, including the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Liaise with external auditors on any complex accounting matters.
  • Support joint venture or assetโ€‘level analysis and reporting initiatives.
  • Take on special projects as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree and CPA required.
  • 12+ years of progressively senior level experience in accounting/finance.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Prior experience in a large public accounting firm providing technical advice is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic, innovative and motivated team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problemโ€‘solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance and meet tight deadlines.
