Principal MMIC Design Engineer
In MACOM's MMIC Business Unit, we design MMICs for cellular,aerospace and defense, and other wireless applications. We are looking for anexperienced microwave power amplifier design engineer. You will:
- Be responsible for the design, layout, test, and releaseof new high efficiency MMICs for microwave and millimeter wave applicationsbased on GaN and GaAs technologies.
- MMIC products may include power amplifiers,distributed amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, attenuators, switches ormultifunction MMICs.
- Set up and run EM simulations using process PDKs. Modify EM substrate, ports, and other EM setup conditions to backfitsimulations to measurement data.
- Be responsible for all design activities and relatedproduct development activities from kickoff through engineeringevaluation.
- Work with our package and assembly teams to come up withnew and more cost-effective packaging and assembly methods.
- Initiate prototype builds and manage productcharacterization. You will design evaluation boards and characterizationfixtures, then direct or perform measurements. Evaluation data is processed andpresented against the product development goals.
- Provide clear status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing DC andRF test data.
- Work with our Product Engineering group to transfer the product toproduction.

- Degree (BSc, MS, or PhD) in Electrical Engineering.
- More than 15 years of experience in microwave ormillimeter wave MMIC design.
- Fluent with modern simulation tools such as ADS.
- Knowledgeable in high efficiency power amplifierarchitectures.
- Familiar with MMIC integration and experience designingfor high yield and low cost.
- Extensive experience with EM simulations.
- Experience with thermal simulation tools.
- Operation and calibration of a s-parameter, and nonlinearmeasurements using industry standard test equipment (spectrum analyzer, networkanalyzer, power meter, etc.).
- Experience with the design of microwave evaluation boardsincluding both electrical and thermal aspects.
- Device modeling experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build longlasting partnerships.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office products.
