QUALITY ENGINEER

Department: Quality Assurance

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer is responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and monitoring quality initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations. This position identifies root causes of quality issues, develops corrective and preventive actions, and drives improvements that enhance product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational performance. The Quality Engineer works cross-functionally to implement quality systems, support manufacturing operations, and ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide problem-solving support to manufacturing operations and internal customers, and assist Quality team members as needed.
  • Lead problem-solving activities to identify root causes of defects and quality concerns.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and verify corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reduce waste and scrap.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to develop quality assurance processes, gauging methods, workmanship standards, and work instructions.
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet established quality standards through inspection processes.
  • Support engineering and manufacturing change management processes to ensure proper validation, documentation, approvals, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Track, analyze, and report quality metrics and trends to evaluate process effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support business objectives through data-driven quality analysis and reporting.
  • Conduct Quality Awareness and quality system training for employees.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to 5S and housekeeping standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of Quality Engineering experience preferred with a bachelor's degree.
  • An associate degree in a technical or business-related field with three (3) or more years of quality experience may be considered.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will also be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, specifications, procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, and leadership teams.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate percentages, ratios, rates, and statistical data.
  • Ability to analyze data trends and interpret graphs and charts.
  • Understanding of basic statistical analysis and quality metrics.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, drawings, specifications, and procedures.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working within ERP, MRP, or quality management systems preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience within manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, APQP, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Internal Auditor certification or quality-related certifications are a plus.
