Join the growing Research and Development team within Boston Scientific’s Interventional Heart Failure group as a Test Method Development Engineer - P3. In this role, you’ll work on a wide variety of challenging and rewarding new product development activities focused on bringing new and impactful therapies to patients around the globe. 

The position will focus primarily on test method development for critical product performance measures on a new and exciting product platform specific to device feedback loops including device sensors.  We are looking for a motivated and driven individual with sound technical fundamentals who can drive execution in a very diverse and fast-paced environment. This position requires approximately 20% travel.

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model requiring employees to be in our Arbor Lakes, Minnesota office at least five days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Test method developer for components, sub, or finished medical device assemblies.
  • Creates new methods to evaluate critical areas of product performance with device feedback loop focus.
  • Guides the design of unique equipment or fixturing/tooling to support method development.
  • Contributes to or leads test protocols, data generation, analysis, and team review.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure requirements are unambiguous and measurable.
  • Authors technical reports that communicate results and share knowledge across the business unit.
  • Contributes ideas to or generates intellectual property submissions.
  • Significant amount of hands-on, in-lab product development and testing.

 Required qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or similar.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an engineering field/industry.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and sound technical judgment.
  • Experience developing product level test methods and equipment/fixturing with verification level testing as the benchmark.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and follow through on project responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively and thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to drive deliverables through creative problem-solving and collaboration with team members.
  • Experience with experimental design and execution.
  • Experience developing new complex product evaluation methods where existing solutions are insufficient.
  • Experience with early-stage ideation, prototyping tools and rapid development methods to support evaluation, key decision-making and risk reduction.
  • Basic understanding of medical device design control, quality systems and the product development process (PLCP).
