About the Role

This position is a project / temporary position lasting a minimum of two (2) years with the possibility of it being extended.

NOTE: The selected candidate will be required to pass a PAPD background check.
The Senior Security Coordinator - Construction Redevelopment at Newark Liberty Internation Airport will assist the Airport Security Manager (ASM) to ensure airport compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Regulations for commercial service airports with respect to various construction projects at EWR, as described more fully below. This position is one of high trust and is responsible for reviewing and handling sensitive and confidential documents and security information. This position will work closely with multiple Port Authority (PA) departments, federal government agencies, airlines, airport tenants, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, edit, and conduct walk through(s) with TSA to verify of any change of security condition, prior to approval, and make proper notification to appropriate parties.
  • Monitor and maintain records of the change of security conditions.
  • Coordinate security site visits with various stakeholders. These may include conducting security sweeps/inspections/audits.
  • Develop, approve, and track temporary security plans for all construction activities where security measures are required.
  • Develop, track, and recommend for approval to the ASM, permanent security plans and amendments for all final construction designs.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all relevant airport stakeholders, including their counterparts at the TSA.
  • Provide regular briefings to senior security managers regarding ongoing projects.
  • Supervisor and provide guidance to field contract staff to ensure compliance at all construction sites.
  • Monitor/Inspect construction sites/areas for compliance with established security procedures and the TSA required Airport Security Program (ASP) specifications and work with parties to close any security gaps in these areas.
  • Assist the Aviation Security office and the contract management staff as required to comply with TSA regulations, TSA Security Directives, PA Audits, PA Air Terminal Rules and the Chief Security Officer's policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Airport Security personnel, Airport Operations staff, and Port Authority Police Department to enforce the requirements contained in the ASP and perform compliance audits.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation Management, Aviation/ Homeland Security, Engineering, Business Management, Public Management or other relevant fields.
  • External candidates should demonstrate experience in either construction project management or airport security regulations and operations.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history records check, as mandated by 49 CFR 1542, and meet all requirements necessary to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Card and airfield driving privileges.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work various shifts including weekends, holidays, hours beyond the normal workday;
  • Must be able to respond to the facility for any special circumstances as directed by the ASM;
  • Obtain Airport Security Coordinator status and be available via telephone during off-hours to respond to facility inquiries.

Selection Process

Compensation, Benefits & On-Site Collaboration Requirements:

In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business, and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required on business needs.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey anticipates that the actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on aspects such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal factors.

The expected compensation range for this role is: Minimum: $90,012 Midpoint: $117,018 Maximum: $144,014
