Job description

One Federal Solution (OFS) is seeking a Scientific Subject Matter/Systems Specialist I to support a Potential Government client. The selected candidate will provide scientific, analytical, and technical support for biosafety, biosecurity, and biomedical research policy initiatives. This position will support scientific studies, policy analysis, program evaluations, and technical documentation while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, clinicians, analysts, educators, and policy professionals. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, research, and communication skills with experience translating complex scientific and technical information into meaningful recommendations that support federal decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in scientific studies, assessments, evaluations, and analytical projects supporting biosafety, biosecurity, and biomedical research initiatives.
  • Analyze and interpret complex scientific, technical, research, policy, and programmatic information to develop actionable recommendations.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of scientific and research policy initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports, executive summaries, white papers, presentations, charts, graphs, and briefing materials for government leadership.
  • Conduct scientific literature reviews, research, and policy analysis to support ongoing projects.
  • Collaborate with scientists, clinicians, analysts, educators, biosafety professionals, and program personnel on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Support policy development, educational program analysis, and medical/scientific advisory activities.
  • Assist with functional systems analysis, documentation, implementation, and scientific program support activities.
  • Participate in meetings, working groups, and stakeholder discussions while documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Communicate technical findings and project updates to management and executive leadership.
  • Maintain project documentation, research findings, and analytical deliverables.
  • Perform additional scientific and analytical support duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Science, Public Health, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Medical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience supporting scientific research, policy analysis, biomedical programs, or related scientific initiatives.
  • Experience participating in or supporting scientific studies, assessments, evaluations, or analytical projects.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting complex scientific, technical, research, policy, or programmatic information.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, analytical documentation, executive briefings, and presentation materials.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, research, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Tier 2 Background Investigation. Certain assignments may require eligibility for a Tier 5 Background Investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting biosafety and biosecurity policy initiatives.
  • Experience translating scientific or technical findings into practical policy or operational recommendations.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams consisting of scientists, clinicians, policy specialists, analysts, educators, and technical staff.
  • Experience supporting policy development, educational program analysis, or medical/scientific advisory activities.
  • Experience supporting federal health, research, scientific, or public health organizations, including NIH, CDC, FDA, CMS, VA, DHA, HHS, or similar agencies.
  • Experience supporting scientific program implementation or health information systems.
