Job description

Position Summary:

The Inventory Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through regular counts, audits, and data entry. This role supports warehouse operations by ensuring inventory integrity, resolving discrepancies, and assisting with inbound and outbound stock movement. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to accuracy.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Perform cycle counts and full physical inventory audits according to schedule.
  • Accurately record and reconcile inventory data using warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, reporting findings to Inventory Supervisor.
  • Assist in receiving, labeling, and stocking incoming goods.
  • Ensure inventory is stored and rotated according to company standards (FIFO/LIFO).
  • Support picking, packing, and shipping as needed during high-volume periods.
  • Maintain clean and organized inventory storage areas.
  • Communicate inventory issues or concerns to supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Comply with safety procedures and warehouse policies at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in inventory, warehousing, or retail stock management preferred.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanning equipment is a plus.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, or adjusted schedules as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Basic math and computer skills required (Excel and inventory software experience preferred).
  • Ability to read packing slips, product labels, and inventory reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Equipment Used:

  • RF scanners
  • Barcode printers and labelers
  • Computers and inventory management systems
  • Pallet jacks (manual or electric)
  • Handheld calculators

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and climbing ladders or step stools.
  • Ability to focus on repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Mental ability to analyze inventory discrepancies and resolve them efficiently.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
  • Occasional exposure to moving equipment and machinery.
  • Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes and vests.
