Job description

We specialize in offering a wide range of kitchen, entertaining, décor and furniture items that cater to various styles and preferences, ensuring our customers find exactly what they need to make their homes joyful and stylish.

Position Summary:

Mackenzie-Childs is seeking talented, creative artists to hand-paint our locally made Aurora pottery. Decorators are responsible for applying stain/china paint to ceramic pieces in an efficient manner in compliance with the Mackenzie-Childs’ high-quality standards.Training on the job is provided for our signature designs. Mackenzie-Childs artisans are responsible for maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)


85% Apply stain/china paint to ceramic pieces in an efficient manner in compliance with the Mackenzie-Childs’ high-quality standards

5% Move pieces to and from racks and workstations

5% Data entry for labor recording and tracking 

5% Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Background in art either through employment or hobby preferred 

Special Requirements:

  • Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally
  • Attention to detail required for maintaining high quality standards for size, shape and color of paint applications
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on improving efficiencies and maintaining quality
  • Strong work ethic and ability to self motivate in an individualized work environment


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Requires organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.


Equipment Used:

  • Paint brushes and small tools for painting
  • Computer

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, lift, crouch, kneel, bend, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
  • Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.


 

Environmental Conditions:
The worker is subject to paint glazes and stains.


Salary Range:17.50/hr
