Overview

Our team is leveraging the latest emerging technologies to craft the nextโ€‘generation software core of Ahold Delhaize USA eโ€‘commerce and order fulfillment platforms. As a DevOps Manager, you will be responsible for leading and growing a team of talented engineers, and providing technical leadership in the areas of telemetry, logging, and tracing. You will collaborate with platform and product engineering teams to evolve our observability platform for the unified monitoring of thousands of Azure cloud and onโ€‘premises hosts and services.


Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 inโ€‘person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Chicago, IL, and Quincy, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key contributor to the implementation and optimization of observability platform and collaborate with engineers to effectively leverage Datadog.

  • Support the development of a monitoring platform that identifies issues and anomalies in missionโ€‘critical systems with improved relevance and accuracy.

  • Assist in defining and adopting observability standards and best practices, working towards their consistent application across the engineering organization.

  • Support efforts to enhance the reliability and availability of critical systems while helping identify and address potential points of failure.

  • Work closely with platform and product teams, providing technical guidance and support as needed.


Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering or systems engineering.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, and Splunk.

  • Handsโ€‘on expertise in metrics, logging, tracing, profiling, alerting, and visualization.

  • Practical experience with Infrastructureโ€‘asโ€‘Code and Monitoringโ€‘asโ€‘Code practices.

  • Strong working knowledge of the Azure Cloud platform and Azure DevOps pipelines.

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to engage effectively with both technical and nonโ€‘technical stakeholders.
