Job description

Amazon Interactive Video Service (Amazon IVS) is AWS's fully managed live streaming service, built on the same technology that powers Twitch and trusted by thousands of enterprises across gaming, social, live commerce, sports, and entertainment.
Our mission: enable developers to build communities around live video. We handle everything from ingest to processing to delivery at global scale, so developers can focus on creating interactive, engaging live experiences for their audiences.
The IVS Client SDK team builds the multi-platform playback, broadcast, and real-time SDKs that power our customers' live video experiences. We ship cross-platform media software with a shared C++ core and native bindings for iOS, Android, and Web

As a software engineer on this team, you'll design and build media functionality used by millions of users worldwide - working across the stack from low-level codec integration to public-facing APIs.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement core media functionality in C++ shared across platforms, and build platform-specific bindings for iOS, Android, and Web.
- Develop and maintain our video playback, broadcast, and real-time SDKs with a focus on performance, reliability, and consistent cross-platform behavior.
- Collaborate with backend video teams on low-latency and real-time media broadcasting and playback.
- Design clean, ergonomic SDK APIs that balance platform conventions with cross-platform consistency.
- Build reliable unit, integration, and end-to-end tests across multiple platforms and device configurations.
- Stay current on media codecs, streaming protocols, and platform-level media frameworks.
A day in the life
You might start the morning investigating a customer-reported playback issue, digging into protocol behavior and reproducing it across different devices and OS versions. By midmorning you're building new functionality in our media SDKs: designing APIs, implementing core logic in C++, crafting platform-specific bindings, and testing across a range of environments. After lunch you're reviewing a teammate's PR for the real-time SDK, discussing codec tradeoffs with the backend team, and running integration tests to make sure nothing regressed

The work spans the full media stack across multiple platforms, and no two days look the same.
About the team
Amazon Interactive Video Service (IVS) is a managed live streaming solution that helps customers create interactive video experiences at scale. We power some of the world's largest streaming platforms, including Twitch, enabling businesses and developers to add live video and real-time interactivity to their applications without managing complex video infrastructure.
We build innovative solutions that democratize live video streaming technology. You'll work with talented engineers who are passionate about solving complex challenges and creating seamless, low-latency, and real-time streaming experiences

If you're excited about shaping the future of interactive live video, join us as we continue to expand our capabilities and empower customers worldwide.
