Role

We are seeking a Senior Director of Commercial and Market Intelligence to join our Commercial and Product Strategy Team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the management and commercial positioning of Lithium Americas' product portfolio as the Company transitions from construction to production and revenue generation. Serving as a key interface between the Company, its customers and different markets, this position will develop key insights into the evolving lithium chemicals industry. You will work closely with customers, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to align market opportunities, product strategy, customer requirements, and long-term business objectives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization committed to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the clean energy sector.

The role is based at our Atlanta, GA office or remote and reports to the VP, Commercial & Product Strategy. Regular travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies, business systems and processes to strengthen customer relationships, enhance operational effectiveness and drive long-term business value.
  • Acts as the primary commercial interface between Lithium Americas and key customers. This includes direct negotiation and management of commercial terms ensuring long-term business objectives.
  • Responsible for developing regional and market strategies informed by customer insights, competitive intelligence, market trends and evolving industry dynamics.
  • Leads the negotiation, execution, and management of commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with the Company's strategic, financial, and operational objectives.
  • Monitors and analyzes lithium, battery materials, and adjacent markets to identify emerging opportunities, risks, customer demand trends, pricing dynamics and competitive positioning.
  • Provides commercial and market intelligence to support strategic decision-making, investment priorities, product development and long-term business planning.
  • Develops commercial and market justifications to support organic growth strategy, acts as a core member for inorganic growth evaluation.
  • Develops and leads product stewardship initiatives by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support responsible product lifecycle management, customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops market forecasts, pricing analyses, customer segmentation strategies, and commercial performance metrics to inform business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Identifies and evaluates new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and commercial business models that support the Company's long-term growth strategy.
  • Provides commercial insights, market analysis and strategic recommendations to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors, including contributions to quarterly business reviews, earnings materials calls, investor communications and sustainability initiatives.
  • Represents the Company at customer meetings, industry conferences, trade associations, and other external engagements to strengthen Lithium Americas' market presence and strategic relationships.
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, Finance, Economics, or a related field required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial, business development, market intelligence or strategic marketing experience in the lithium space, specialty chemicals or related industries. Experience spanning multiple business and commodity cycles is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in developing and launching new product brands and go-to-market strategies within the specialty chemicals, petrochemical or related industries. Preference for experience within the lithium chemicals markets.
  • Demonstrated experience with the lithium carbonate market is required. Preference for a diverse background of lithium chemicals such as lithium hydroxide, lithium chloride, lithium sulfate, and lithium metal.
  • Proven experience aligning internal and external stakeholders to deliver long-term business value through a deep understanding of customers, industriy trends, markets and products to develop strategies and inform negotiations.
  • Highly strategic, analytical, and results-oriented, with the ability to translate complex market data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, presentation and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization and externally.
  • Experience in supporting corporate strategy, corporate investor relations, government relations, commercial insights and corporate development functions.
  • Experience evaluating and developing business cases for both organic and inorganic business growth initiatives, including joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience developing, implementing and continuously improving policies, business processes and procedures for successful portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with market research firms, industry analysts, consultants and external intelligence providers while leading internal market intelligence processes.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate market opportunities, pricing strategies, investment decisions and commercial risks.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills across the internal organization and external stakeholders. Strong focus on results driven alignment.
