Position Summary:
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for independently installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial construction projects, including new construction, tenant upfits, and remodels. This position works under the direction of a Foreman or Superintendent while also providing leadership and guidance to apprentices and helpers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with code requirements and project specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings to execute installations accurately
  • Measure, bend, and install various types of conduit, including EMT, IMC, and rigid conduit
  • Pull wire, set up wire pulls, and operate equipment such as wire tuggers efficiently
  • Install fixtures, panels, switchgear, and electrical devices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Supervise, train, and mentor apprentices and helpers on proper procedures and safety practices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Ensure proper use and accountability of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Follow all safety protocols and utilize required PPE at all times
  • Communicate effectively with team members, foremen, and project managers
  • Meet project timelines and productivity benchmarks

Qualifications:
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license (state-specific as required)
  • Proven experience in commercial electrical construction
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions as required by job sites

Work Environment:
  • Field-based position assigned to commercial job sites
  • Reports directly to the Foreman or Superintendent
  • May require travel between job sites depending on project needs

Additional Requirements:
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
