Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer II (Production Engineering & Design Control)
Role Overview
We are seeking an analytical, hands-on, and proactive Manufacturing Engineer II to support our production engineering team across design, documentation, process optimization, and shop-floor support. In this role, you will lead key projects including product redesigns, tooling and fixture development, process improvements, and the execution of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) within enterprise PLM systems.
This is an active, on-site technical role combining CAD design with daily production troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with Quality, Operations, and Product Management teams to conduct time studies, apply Lean manufacturing principles, and ensure smooth implementation of design changes. Key Responsibilities
Design, Documentation & ECN Management
• CAD & Drawing Management: Create, update, and maintain SolidWorks CAD models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings, applying proper GD&T principles.
• ECN Execution: Manage and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) within the PLM system, ensuring complete, accurate, and compliant documentation.
• Process Workflows: Develop and maintain clear process documentation, standard work instructions, and manufacturing routings.
Tooling, Fixtures & Production Support
• Fixture Development: Design, procure, and implement custom production fixtures, tooling, and test setups to support assembly operations.
• Shop-Floor Troubleshooting: Provide hands-on daily support for production lines, troubleshooting tooling, assembly processes, and equipment issues.
• Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing metrics using Excel, Power BI, and internal tools to drive data-backed process decisions.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
• Process Audits: Conduct routine process audits, time studies, and workflow assessments to identify bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities.
• Lean Execution: Apply Lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, DMAIC) to implement process, safety, ergonomic, and cost-reduction improvements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Quality and operations teams to participate in Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and support process validations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role.
• Technical Mastery:
oHigh proficiency in SolidWorks, including robust part modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawing creation.
oProven hands-on experience executing ECNs and managing documentation within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
oStrong understanding of core manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, bonding, mechanical assembly).
oDemonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; ability to be highly hands-on in a fast-paced production environment; excellent cross-functional communication abilities.
Preferred Attributes
• Hands-on knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and frameworks (5S, Kaizen, DMAIC).
