Opportunity Overview
Teradyne is seeking a Test Lab Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our QA and Engineering labs. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership and strategic planning to ensure all internal systems, test cells, and test equipment operate at peak performance. The Lab Manager will play a critical role in supporting current operations, driving continuous improvement, and enabling future growth through new product introductions and infrastructure upgrades. Team Leadership
  • Supervise, train, and mentor lab technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to support skill development.

Lab Operations & System Reliability
  • Oversee the maintenance and functionality of all internal systems, test cells, and test equipment.
  • Perform and document routine system checks, preventive maintenance, and calibration activities.
  • Ensure compliance with diagnostic standards and resolve system failures promptly through effective troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Manage machine shop operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and proper equipment usage.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for new users before granting machine shop access.

Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation
  • Plan and implement internal systems to support new product development and new product introductions (NPI).
  • Collaborate with facilities for infrastructure upgrades, including power drops, water lines, and HVAC requirements.
  • Allocate lab space efficiently for new systems or test cells and manage real estate utilization.
  • Decommission obsolete or unused units in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Help optimize test operations and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to make online testing more efficient, reliable, and effective.

Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration, diagnostics, maintenance, and equipment lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards across all lab operations.
  • Support audits and inspections by providing required documentation and demonstrating compliance.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to improve lab efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize workflows.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend upgrades to enhance testing capabilities.
  • Develop and implement best practices for lab management and equipment utilization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in lab operations, system maintenance, or test environments.
  • Proven experience supervising technical staff and managing lab operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for complex systems.
  • Knowledge of calibration standards, diagnostic tools, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with facility coordination for utilities, including power, water, and HVAC.
  • Experience with new product introduction (NPI) and lab setup for prototype testing.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools and lab management software.
  • Experience with Teradyne ATE test systems, including UltraFlex, UltraFlexPlus, and J750, is highly desirable.

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $127,600-$204,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
