Automotive Lab Aide
Federal Work-Study Eligible!
Terms Available: Fall, Winter, Spring
Ready to Shift Gears?
As an Automotive Lab Aide, you'll work alongside instructors and support first-year automotive students as they develop the skills needed for careers in the automotive industry. You'll help prepare the shop for daily instruction, assist with lab activities, organize equipment, and promote a safe, productive learning environment.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Assist instructors with setting up automotive lab projects and activities.
  • Help first-year students during lab projects and skill assessments.
  • Move vehicles safely as directed by the instructor.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe automotive shop.
  • Help prepare tools, equipment, and workstations for daily instruction.
  • Promote safe shop practices and assist with maintaining an efficient learning environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Currently enrolled at Umpqua Community College.
  • In good academic and disciplinary standing.
Preferred
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT & FEDERAL WORK-STUDY
This position may be filled through either the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program or regular student employment, depending on student eligibility and available funding.
Students hired through the Federal Work-Study Program must:
  • Be eligible for and accept a Federal Work-Study award.
  • Be enrolled in at least six (6) eligible credits each term.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Complete all required hiring paperwork and receive employment authorization before beginning work.

Students who are not eligible for Federal Work-Study may still be considered for employment through regular student worker funding, if available.
