We are currently looking for a Supervisor - Test Lab to join our team in Holland, MI.
Job Overview
Lead and manage the daily operations of an engineering test lab, supervising a team of engineers and technicians and ensuring timely completion of audit, new product, and ongoing business testing. Prioritize workloads, maintain schedules, and develop capacity plans to align team output with business needs. Ensure compliance with BIFMA and other industry standards while guiding problem-solving and maintaining high-quality, reliable test results. Drive continuous improvement through equipment strategy, strong leadership, and a trusted, accountable team environment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Leads, coaches, and develops a team of technicians and test engineers responsible for industry compliance testing
  • Lead and facilitates teams through the troubleshooting of failed components, assemblies, and systems using appropriate test equipment and methods
  • Establishes clear performance expectations and builds team capability in identifying component failures, ensuring timely supplier notification when defect rates exceed acceptable levels
  • Drives team accountability and continuous improvement in identifying and resolving issues that impact test yields, implementing corrective actions to improve overall performance
  • Partners with quality, engineering and manufacturing teams to align execution with production test plans and processes
  • Ensures the team maintains accurate, complete, and compliant test-related documentation, including test plans, procedures, results, and reports, while reinforcing standards for quality, compliance, and disciplined execution
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with/without accommodation.
  • Uses office automation, communication, software, and tools used in Haworth office environment.
  • Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or other related technical degree
  • Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: engineering, mechanical/technical work, test lab operations, quality, or manufacturing
  • Supervisory Experience: 2 years supervisory experience
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, perform repetitive hand and arm motions, safely operate hand tools (5-10 lbs), and lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
  • Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a test lab environment, preferably within contract furniture or manufacturing industries
  • Proven leadership or mentoring experience, with the ability to guide and develop team members
  • Strong background in capacity planning, project planning, and managing shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience maintaining testing schedules and validating resources to meet business demands
  • Knowledge of BIFMA and other relevant industry testing standards and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, approve test reports, and ensure accuracy and quality of results
  • Experience establishing, tracking, and holding teams accountable to performance metrics
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • High level of credibility, accountability, and attention to detail in a technical or engineering setting
