Small Tool Mechanic Pay Range-$28.00-32.00
The Small Tool Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of small tools and equipment used in field operations. This role supports operational uptime by ensuring small engines and specialty equipment are safe, reliable, and ready for deployment. The position is based out of the Syracuse location and reports directly to the Fleet Coordinator for Central New York.
Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines and equipment including, but not limited to:
    • Small gas and diesel engines
    • Plate compactors and jumping jacks
    • Portable generators
    • Hand-held and jobsite tools
    • McElroy fusion equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections on assigned equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Coordinator regarding repair priorities, parts needs, and equipment status
  • Order or request parts as needed to complete repairs in a timely manner
  • Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Assist with equipment staging, setup, and readiness for field deployment as needed

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience repairing small engines and jobsite equipment
  • Working knowledge of small engine systems, hydraulics, and basic electrical components
  • Experience with compactors, jumping jacks, generators, and fusion equipment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license required
