Job description

SUMMARY

Field Coordinators are also the first point of contact for the instructor and center staff in working to resolve any issues that may be impeding the successful delivery of training and placement services to students. They have the willingness and capability to collaborate with center and management to resolve issues, and create integrated and coordinated training programs and collaborate with center CTS staff, IUPAT Job Corps staff and instructors, employers, Directors of Apprenticeship and Local Union/District Council representatives to provide hands-on placement services and opportunities for students. Field Coordinators perform an on-center Program Performance Assessment of each IUPAT program at least 2 times annually (ideally during the DOL Regional Office Center Assessment) and communicate regularly with the CTT Manager and/or Center Director in between visits.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assumes the instructional duties prior to the new instructor’s arrival on center to minimize any disruption of student training activities.
  • Spends the first week on center with the new instructor to conduct initial training and orientation in collaboration with center staff.
  • Advise and mentor instructors in all areas of operation, especially in situations where student safety, facility conditions, quality of instruction and overall program performance may be impacted.
  • Work with the instructor and center staff to implement a viable performance improvement plan (PIP) as necessary.
  • required to submit a weekly report to the Executive Director (National Project Coordinator) detailing all activities and contacts with instructors, graduates/students, center and DOL regional staff, CTS and OA staff, employers, apprenticeship directors and IUPAT representatives, WIOA partner agencies, and other entities/issues that factor into the overall performance of the program.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide essential management at the program level to ensure that needs of instructors, students and apprentices are addressed to deliver successful outcomes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong background or experience in program management and evaluation and possess the ability to translate the policy into action items.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Background in curriculum development, professional development, and program design/implementation/monitoring/evaluation. All the above-mentioned qualifications are evidenced through at least two of the following elements:

  • Academic credentials from a post-secondary educational institutions
  • Direct related training
  • Direct related experience
  • Current or previous experience as an IUPAT Job Corps Instructor, and/or business representative
  • Journey-level status in the finishing industries and/or related industrial/academic credentials

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

They retain industry and/or employer specific certifications or credentials required by specific partnerships.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Lifting of light boxes may be required in the course of organizing and distributing work in the office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working environment will be a combination of office work and field work.
