Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced iSeries Systems Engineer for the implementation and optimization of our IBM i (AS400/iSeries/System i) systems. This role is essential to ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in IBM i and IBM Power Systems environments and aid in aligning infrastructure with evolving business goals. 
 

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 USD, which is dependent on several factors including relevant experience, geography, business needs, and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k)-matching program; and other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses. This role includes paid Personal Time Off and paid company holidays.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). 

Must be able to pass background checks to obtain and hold gaming licenses. 

3+ years of experience working with IBM i systems in an enterprise environment. 

Experience in performance tuning, and capacity planning. 

Working knowledge of IBM i operating system, CL programming, SQL, and DB2 for i. 

Familiarity with IBM Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, HMC). 

Experience with backup/recovery solutions and high availability (HA) technologies. 

Experience with automation and monitoring tools. 

Understanding of network concepts and protocols. 

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. 

Preferred Skills 

Previous experience with Mimix replication. 

Experience with BRMS. 

Experience with Robot Monitoring Tools. 

Familiarity with best practices in IBM i environments. 

Knowledge of modern integration techniques (e.g., APIs, web services) with IBM i.

Architecture & Design 

Implement and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance IBM i system architectures. 

Support infrastructure strategies for business continuity, disaster recovery, and future growth. 

Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to the IBM i platform. 

System Management 

Install, configure, and maintain IBM i operating systems. 

Manage OS upgrades, PTFs, and hardware refresh cycles. 

Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and tuning. 

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues. 

Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures using BRMS. 

Ensure high availability and reliability of IBM i systems. 

Plan, organize, and implement technical projects. 

Security & Compliance 

Implement and maintain security policies, user access controls, and audit procedures. 

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI, Gaming Control Boards). 

Automation & Scripting 

Develop and maintain scripts for system and storage administration using CL and SQL. 

Utilize configuration management tools such as PM400 and iNavigator. 

Collaboration & Leadership 

Collaborate with application development, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration. 

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff. 

Serve as a team representative for IBM i-related projects and initiatives. 

Provide technical support to developers, platform administrators, and other teams. 

Diagnose and resolve complex system and storage issues. 

Participate in after-hours system deployments and maintenance. 

Participate in on-call rotation. 

Documentation & Reporting 

Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies. 

Generate reports on system health, performance, and usage metrics.
