Job description

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead the EHS function at our Atlanta, GA site. This is an onsite senior individualcontributor role responsible for owning the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs across a fastmoving manufacturing, test, and R&D environment - and for making sure the systems we stand up scale with the site.

As the senior EHS professional on site, you are the subjectmatter expert and the face of EHS: you own the programs, set the standard, and partner with production to keep our people safe and the site compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Your scope spans occupational safety, chemical management, incident management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, storm water management, air emissions, and regulated waste. You lead through expertise, influence, and mentorship rather than direct reports - building a culture where safe behavior is the default and EHS is a partner to production, not a roadblock.
This role is for someone who wants to build a system, not just manage one.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the site's EHS management system and programs, and drive them to scale as the site grows
  • Serve as the site's senior EHS subjectmatter expert and primary interface and liaison with site leadership, employees, customers, auditors, and regulators
  • Lead incident and nearmiss investigations, including root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions to closure
  • Establish and run the cadence of routine EHS inspections of manufacturing and warehouse areas, documenting conditions and driving findings to closure
  • Own the site's EHS risk profile - performing and directing risk assessments and job hazard analyses for manufacturing operations and ensuring controls are implemented
  • Own hazardous waste management, including proper characterization, handling, labeling, and storage, and ensure the site meets all generator obligations
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and standards including hazard communication, fall protection, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, powered and hand tools, electrical safety, emergency response, and chemical management
  • Own regulatory compliance documentation and recordkeeping - OSHA logs, environmental permits, waste manifests, and reporting - and keep the site auditready at all times
  • Lead internal audits, track findings to closure, and report EHS performance and leading/lagging indicators to site and functional leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other EHS staff and site personnel, influencing safe behaviors across departments through expertise rather than positional authority
  • Partner heavily with Operations, Facilities, and other departments to guide, teach, and embed EHS into how the site runs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health, and safety programs, including serving as the senior or lead EHS professional for a site or program
  • Deep working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 General Industry
  • Working knowledge of 40 CFR Parts 260-279 Hazardous Waste Management, and familiarity with EPA and state environmental regulations
  • Handson command of core EHS activities: inspections, incident/nearmiss investigation and root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, risk assessments/JHAs, hazardous waste characterization, and compliance recordkeeping (OSHA logs, permits, manifests)
  • Demonstrated ability to own programs and provide technical direction and mentorship through influence rather than positional authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective at engaging with leadership, regulators, frontline staff, and thirdparty partners
  • Proven ability to manage multiple programs, projects, and deadlines simultaneously across a fastmoving site
  • Comfortable operating independently on a manufacturing floor and able to hit the ground running with minimal rampup
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access exportcontrolled sites
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Wellrounded EHS professional who can operate as the senior EHS authority on site
  • Manufacturing experience, ideally in a fullrate production facility
  • Experience scaling an EHS management system through rapid site growth
  • Highenergy professional who craves the opportunity to build a system rather than just manage one
  • Natural tendency to challenge the status quo and find new, novel ways to improve EHS management systems
  • Someone who leans into challenges instead of saying "no" and walking away
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) is a plus
