Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance Subject Matter Expert to drive strategic initiatives and provide deep functional expertise across the insurance lifecycle, for our digital transformation programs.
In this role, you will serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders, product and IT engineering teams. You will leverage your deep domain expertise to navigate through a rapidly shifting P&C landscape, spearhead legacy core system modernizations, align with California Department of Insurance (CDI) regulatory shifts, and pioneer the adoption & the rise of Agentic AI in underwriting. As a SME, you will actively harness the latest Insurance tech and advanced AI tools to deliver value across the entire P&C value chain.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Advisory: Provide high-level functional guidance on P&C product development, underwriting, and claims optimization for both personal and commercial lines.
Platform Transformation: Lead/Advise on the implementation and migration of core insurance platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, or proprietary systems), ensuring business requirements align with technical capabilities.
Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure products and processes comply with California-specific mandates, including wildfire mitigation pricing, Prop 103 requirements, and CDI rate-filing changes.
Process Engineering: Map "As-Is" vs. "To-Be" business workflows to eliminate operational friction and improve the Combined Ratio.
Innovation Leadership: Evaluate and integrate emerging Insurtech solutions, focusing on AI-enabled straight-through processing (STP) and advanced catastrophe (CAT) response modeling.
Stakeholder Liaison: Translate complex insurance concepts into actionable technical specifications (Business requirement documents/Functional requirement documents) for engineering teams and present strategic roadmaps to executive leadership.
Required Skills:
Mastery over the entire P&C value chain - Product Filing, Rating, Underwriting, Policy Administration, and Claims.
Deep understanding of the California insurance market, including local legislative trends and high-risk property exposure management.
Hands-on experience with modern Core Systems (Guidewire, Duck Creek, etc.) and expertise of data-driven decision-making (SQL, BI tools, or Data Modeling).
Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Preferred Skills:
Professional designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
Experience with Managing General Agent (MGA) operating models.
Knowledge of Agentic AI applications in risk assessment and fraud detection.
Proven track record in managing large-scale digital transformation projects in a 'Hybrid' work environment.
