Job Summary

The Floral Lead is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Floral Department while delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality floral presentations. This role oversees merchandising, inventory management, and team leadership to ensure fresh, visually appealing floral offerings that align with Heinen’s standards of excellence. The Floral Lead collaborates with the Produce team, along with store leadership to support sales growth, maintain product freshness, and create a welcoming shopping experience through expert floral knowledge and creative displays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and develop Floral Associates to achieve sales, margin, and customer service goals.
  • Ensure team adherence to floral best practices, standard operating procedures, and quality standards.
  • Model exceptional service and professionalism in all interactions with customers, team members, and vendors.
  • Support daily floral operations, including ordering, product rotation, quality control, shrink management, stocking, and merchandising.
  • Plan, prioritize, and delegate daily tasks to meet operational and business needs.
  • Communicate department priorities, updates, and expectations to team members, merchandisers, and corporate partners.
  • Create and manage associate schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain knowledge of floral products, trends, and merchandising techniques.
  • Execute department merchandising plans that meet visual and company standards.
  • Monitor performance metrics and share results to drive continuous improvement.
  • Utilize department communication tools to support team alignment and transparency.
  • Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and vendor engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a floral or related retail environment preferred.
  • One to three years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and make sound decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and planning abilities.
  • Proven ability to coach, train, and provide constructive feedback to support associate development and engagement.
  • Willingness and ability to perform all duties of a Floral Associate as needed to support department operations.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in cold environments with temperatures ranging from 0°F to 50°F.
  • Flexibility to work schedules necessary to meet business needs, including evenings, weekends, and additional hours during peak periods.
  • Willingness to work a non-traditional workweek, including both Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday through Saturday work week. Schedules written 2 weeks in advance.
Scheduled days and shift times vary between the hours of 9am and 7pm.
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
