Job description

Position Summary
This position performs semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work on the golf course and club grounds using large mowers, tractors, and other specialized golf course equipment, as well as general maintenance of the golf course and club grounds.
General Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate large mowers, fairway units, specialized golf course equipment, tractors, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters and pruning saws.
  • Operates skid steer, fairway and rough aerifiers, and boom sprayer.
  • Responsible for checking fluid levels before operating any machinery.
  • Responsible for reporting any abnormalities discovered while operating machinery to the Equipment Manager.
  • Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility, washes equipment at the end of each use.
  • Must be able to service the golf course. These duties include changing green flags, putting cups, moving rope and barricades, and moving tee markers and directional stakes
  • Helps in project work; assists in the construction and seeding of new greens, tees, and fairways.
  • Mow, trim or edge lawns, using walking power mowers or edger's.
  • Use of hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hand saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes in the performance of tasks.
  • Prune or trim trees, shrubs or hedges using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
  • Gather and remove litter, trash, and other debris on property.
  • Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders under the supervision of Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other grounds features.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Completes other tasks/duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Possess a valid US Driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Working knowledge and ability to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, turf vehicles, mowers, and maintenance equipment.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational safety hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of golf course maintenance, procedures and equipment.
