Job description

The Club at Starr Pass is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Full-Time Irrigation Technician to join our grounds team. This role is essential in supporting the maintenance and performance of the golf course irrigation systems, ensuring optimal turf health and course playability throughout the season.
Overview
The Irrigation Technician reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. Responsibilities include equipment operation, irrigation repair and operation, crew supervision and inspecting golf course conditions.
Responsibilities:
  • Handles day to day maintenance on irrigation system, course watering, repair
  • Assists in cultural practices: spiking top dressing, aerification
  • Brush, tree removal, fertilizer applications
  • Answer to Foreman, Asst. Superintendent for small course project teams, irrigation repair, rough mowing, irrigation watering
  • Work every other weekend for 4 hours, including holidays
  • When need assist in course mowing greens, tees, fairways, rough
  • May be involved in driving tractors to preform various tasks, projects
  • Working knowledge of small engine operation and repair, helpful but not required

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
  • Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems.
  • Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf
  • Ability to work carefully and ensure co-workers are working in safety
  • Possess leadership qualities
  • Must have willingness to learn
  • Must be driven and possess strong work ethic
  • Must be dependable
  • Ability to understand and follow oral instructions
