Golf Course Superintendent - Rothland Golf Course Job Summary

27 Hole golf course open to the public. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance and overall health of our golf course. This pivotal role involves managing a team of groundskeepers and technicians to ensure the course remains pristine, playable, and visually stunning. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for landscaping, horticulture, and turf management, bringing energy and leadership to create an exceptional golfing environment. You will oversee all aspects of course maintenance, including turf care, landscaping, irrigation systems, tree care, and construction projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily golf course maintenance activities, including mowing, fertilizing, aeration, and pest control to maintain optimal turf conditions
  • Oversee landscape maintenance and landscaping projects to enhance course aesthetics and functionality
  • Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and system repairs for healthy turf growth
  • Lead tree care initiatives, including pruning, removal, and health assessments to promote safety and beauty
  • Coordinate construction projects such as bunker renovations or pathway installations while maintaining course integrity
  • Supervise a team of grounds staff, providing training in lawn care, gardening, horticulture practices, and safety procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections of the course to identify maintenance needs and ensure quality standards are met
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, equipment repairs, and staffing schedules
Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of landscape maintenance, landscaping techniques, and turf management practices
  • Proven supervising experience leading groundskeeping or landscaping teams with strong leadership skills – crew of 12 to 15 in season
  • Expertise in lawn care techniques including fertilization, aeration, overseeding and pest management
  • Experience with construction projects related to golf course development or renovation
  • Skilled in tree care practices such as pruning, disease diagnosis and removal procedures
  • Proficiency in irrigation system installation, troubleshooting and repair methods
  • Strong understanding of gardening principles and horticulture best practices for diverse plantings
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
  • Excellent communication skills for team coordination and stakeholder engagement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 year degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as Golf Course Superintendent or Assistan
Compensation
  • $70,000 to $90,000 – optional 10 months to year round
