Description

Essential Purpose: To provide technical, supervisory, and administrative support to the Golf Course Superintendent while managing a team and ensuring that the resort's outdoor spaces align with high-quality standards while maintaining environmental stewardship.


Essential Duties: 

  • To support Golf Maintenance team members, to ensure production and quality standards are met, as set forth by the Golf Course Superintendent and Temecula Creek Inn.
  • To coordinate any needs for the department with vendors. 
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the landscaping and horticultural operations across the golf resort, including gardens, pathways, water features, and non-play areas.
  • Lead and supervise landscaping staff, providing training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Oversee budgets, purchasing, and inventory management for landscaping materials and equipment.
  • To implement multi-year/season garden plan.
  • To implement food/crop production goals for on-site culinary use.
  • To perform technical horticultural or agronomic tests and evaluations, as directed.
  • To provide, as needed and in a timely manner, administrative and record-keeping data to the Golf Course Superintendent, including purchase orders, invoices, and employee time cards.
  • To assist, as directed, in the preparation of annual capital expenditure budgets and annual operating budgets.
  • To assist, as directed, in planning the day-to-day schedule of golf course maintenance.
  • To conduct departmental safety training for all new Golf Maintenance employees, before they begin to work.
  • To conduct departmental operations meetings, including monthly safety meetings.
  • To practice safe work habits at all times in order to avoid injury to self and others.
  • To continually monitor and control departmental expenditures to ensure meeting operational standards while maintaining annual budget.
  • To purchase supplies and services, and schedule all maintenance procedures, as directed. 
  • To respond to all guest requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • To promote & comply with all policies and procedures of Temecula Creek Inn
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions. 
  • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times. 
  • To practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others, including the safe operation of all power-driven machinery.
  • To ensure safe work practices of all Golf Course Maintenance staff, including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment and machinery.
  • To ensure departmental safety training for all new golf shop employees, before they begin to work.
  • To conduct regular departmental operations meetings, including monthly safety meetings.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings, as directed. 
  • To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.



Requirements

Knowledge + Education: Must have a minimum two years experience in golf course maintenance. English fluency required. Spanish fluency helpful. Must have thorough knowledge of turf varieties and their use and maintenance, and generally accepted cultural practices. Should be familiar with safe application and compatibility of pesticides, and have working knowledge of fertilizers and soil chemistry. Must be able to identify common turf diseases, insects, and weeds. California Qualified Applicator's license required. Some knowledge of golf helpful. Familiar with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, and relevant current laws governing handling of hazardous substances. 


Skills: Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure first-class customer service. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. Good team player. Detail oriented. Highly self-motivated. Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity. Ability to work well under pressure.


Physical Demands: Stand/walks approximately 80% of shift. Sits at desk or in meetings approximately 30% of shift. Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 80 lbs. over short distances. Bends, stoops, reaches, and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Flexibility and good reflexes required to operate power-driven machinery. Must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to sun. Must be flexible to work long, sometimes irregular hours. Moderate use of stairs, daily.
