Job description

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnician III to provide technical expertise supporting offshore and onshore exploration, appraisal, and development projects. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the accurate application of geodetic, positioning, and geomatics principles across survey and subsurface activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide geodetic and positioning support for exploration, drilling, seismic, and development projects.
  • Manage and analyze coordinate reference systems, datums, transformations, and positioning data.
  • Support 2D and 3D seismic survey positioning and subsea navigation activities.
  • Perform quality control of survey data, geodetic calculations, and vendor deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements for coordinate systems, map projections, and navigation settings.
  • Support geospatial analysis using industry-standard software and tools.
  • Collaborate with geoscience, drilling, survey, and contractor teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Promote high standards of safety, ethics, and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geodesy, Surveying Engineering, Geomatics, Geospatial Sciences, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in geodesy, surveying, or positioning support within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of coordinate reference systems, static and dynamic datums, geodetic transformations, and GNSS positioning.
  • Experience supporting seismic, offshore survey, subsea positioning, or construction activities.
  • Proficiency with geospatial and subsurface applications such as ArcGIS Pro, Petrel, Studio, Global Mapper, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of programming and data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.
  • Ability to independently review, validate, and quality-check geospatial data and contractor deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred: Experience with physical oceanography concepts related to subsea positioning, acoustic navigation systems (USBL/LBL), and advanced geodetic network adjustments.
