Job description:

Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, dependable, and enthusiastic Flag Football Instructor to lead a fun and engaging after-school program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade in San Anselmo, CA.

The instructor will introduce students to the fundamentals of flag football through age-appropriate drills, games, and activities. The goal of the program is to help students develop basic football skills, teamwork, coordination, sportsmanship, and confidence while creating a positive and enjoyable environment for all participants.

This is a great opportunity for a coach, athlete, physical education instructor, recreation professional, college student, or experienced youth sports instructor who enjoys working with children and teaching the fundamentals of the game.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fun, structured, and age-appropriate flag football practices and activities.
  • Teach fundamental skills such as passing, catching, running, flag pulling, positioning, and basic offensive and defensive concepts.
  • Organize drills, skill-building activities, and modified games appropriate for K–5th grade students.
  • Explain the basic rules and concepts of flag football in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, good sportsmanship, and positive participation.
  • Encourage students of all skill and experience levels to participate and build confidence.
  • Maintain active supervision of students throughout each class.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe and organized manner.
  • Set up and organize equipment before activities and assist with cleanup afterward.
  • Maintain a positive, encouraging, and inclusive environment where students can learn and have fun.

Qualifications

  • Experience playing, coaching, or teaching football, flag football, or other youth sports.
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged children is strongly preferred.
  • Coaching, physical education, recreation, camp, or youth program experience is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of football rules, skills, and techniques.
  • Ability to teach skills through fun, age-appropriate activities and demonstrations.
  • Energetic, patient, dependable, and comfortable managing groups of children.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, safety, and positive behavior.
