Job description

The Custodian / Housekeeper plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position supports daily campus operations through routine cleaning, basic upkeep, and facility support tasks. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and understands the importance of their contribution to the College community.

Training and uniforms are provided. Prior custodial experience is helpful but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to work overhead and in confined or mechanical spaces
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools, including vacuums, floor buffers, and hand tools
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate cleaning equipment and computer systems
  • Ability to visually inspect areas to ensure cleanliness and safety

  • Clean and maintain campus buildings including classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, and common areas
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, scrub, wax, and polish floors and surfaces
  • Clean interior and exterior glass surfaces including windows, mirrors, and partitions
  • Empty trash and recycling, replace liners, and collect refuse from building interiors and exterior walkways
  • Replenish restroom supplies including paper products and soap
  • Straighten desks and furnishings to return rooms to proper working order
  • Launder and replace linens in guest housing as needed
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when inventory is low
  • Ensure custodial equipment is maintained and functioning properly
  • Assist with deep cleaning and room preparation during summer and peak periods
  • Report facility repair needs to management
  • Assists with the setup, rearrangement, and breakdown of furniture and equipment for special campus events
  • Perform additional custodial, maintenance, or groundskeeping tasks as assigned
