SITE ENGINEERING & PLANS REVIEW: Performs professional engineering work reviewing permitted engineering plans and specifications for the construction of public works projects such as streets, parking facilities, storm and sanitary systems, and environmental programs. Employees in this class are responsible for the review of permitted plans submitted by the permit applicant to ensure construction is in compliance with Federal, State, and City standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Work assignments are received from a professional supervisor who defines the scope of the work to be performed, but the employee is expected to make technical decisions. Employees shall have an understanding of the City, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and Water Management District Standards. They will assist the applicant and coordinate with other City personnel to ensure the permits meet the appropriate codes, rules, and regulations. Employees shall review and verify all stormwater criteria are met.
Minimum Qualifications:


Civil Engineer I
SITE ENGINEERING & PLANS REVIEW: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and six (6) months or more of experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License.


Civil Engineer II
SITE ENGINEERING & PLANS REVIEW: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and two (2) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License.

Civil Engineer III

SITE ENGINEERING & PLANS REVIEW: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Engineering Intern License required. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred.

Civil Engineer IV

SITE ENGINEERING & PLANS REVIEW: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) or more years experience in public works engineering; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida required. A Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment. Experience in the City of Orlando and Water Management District rules and regulations and FEMA rules and regulations as it pertains to site development preferred. Great people and communication skills highly desired. Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License.

Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee's last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.
