Job description

Job Description:
Cascade Bio is a fast-moving early-stage startup seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Analyst to support enzyme purification, quality control, and laboratory operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of biocatalysis, materials science, and sustainable technology while contributing directly to the development of next-generation enzyme immobilization.
We are looking for an analyst who embodies our core values: an obsession with delivering top-caliber products to customers, active curiosity, consistent communication, and an inherent assumption of goodwill. The ideal candidate shares Cascade's vision of empowering enzymes to disrupt the chemical industry and is motivated to translate our science into impactful, sustainable technology. This is an on-site position at our laboratory in Denver, CO.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Biocatalysis: Perform routine biochemical assays, including enzyme activity and protein concentration measurements.
  • Protein expression: Response for enzyme expression, purification, and characterization using standard systems, including E. coli and IMAC. Assist with maintenance of laboratory-scale bioreactor and scale up activities as needed.
  • Data collection and analysis: Accurately record experimental procedures, observations, and results.
  • Attention to detail: Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, traceability, and data integrity. Maintain accurate inventory of chemicals, enzymes, and supplies.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including our Associate Director of Chemistry and Enzyme Scientists.
  • Communication: Communicates project status, results, and technical issues clearly and promptly to supervisor and team.
  • Laboratory maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space. Assist with maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field
  • 1-2 years of hands-on wet lab experience in academic or industry settings
  • Proficiency in fundamental laboratory techniques and good laboratory practices
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Commitment to laboratory safety and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Proactive approach to troubleshooting experimental issues and proposing innovative solutions
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Preferred:
  • Experience with protein purification or enzyme-related workflows
  • Familiarity with chromatography systems and biochemical assays
  • Knowledge of process development or protein expression scale-up
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment

Cascade Bio is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and encourage diversity in the workplace and strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
At Cascade Biocatalysts, we are commercializing our Body Armor for Enzymes™, a polymer science innovation that makes enzymes rugged and reliable for cost-effective biomanufacturing. Our platform unlocks the power of enzymes to replace traditional, unsustainable chemical processes and supports the buildout of a resilient and clean chemical industry.
We are a small and growing team, passionate about bridging biology and chemistry to build the future of manufacturing. If you're excited to bring enzymes out of the lab and into the world - we'd like to meet you.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
