Job description

Gov Solutions Group is seeking a mid- to senior-level electrical engineer to support government customers with power system design, fabrication, testing, and evaluation. This role directly supports the Tactical Integrated Data Ecosystem (TIDE) by developing power generation and distribution solutions across the TIDE environment and its components. Responsibilities include the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and assessment of AC/DC power systems that enable battery, solar, renewable, and alternative energy capabilities.

This position requires hands‑on engineering expertise in power conversion, energy storage, and system‑level integration within mission‑oriented environments. You will lead the technical design and engineering decisions related to electrical and power systems, components, and integration across the TIDE platform. You will work closely with mechanical and systems engineers to develop and deliver a modular, survivable data collection package for our clients.

You’re a strong fit for this role if you have experience in rapid prototyping, electrical and power systems design, hands‑on fabrication, and the ability to collaborate across multiple technical domains to meet evolving requirements and milestones. You’re an exceptional fit if you also have relevant experience operating within Department of Defense environments to design, build, and field modular sensing payloads

This is an onsite position located in North Charleston, SC.

Position Duties:
  • Lead and own end‑to‑end power generation systems design and development to include battery, solar, alternative power sources from requirements analysis through fabrication and deployment.
  • Define system requirements for power generation, distribution, and management, including power electronics, converters, and power factor correction.
  • Develop and execute test plans for validating system performance and reliability, including designing automated test setups.
  • Hands‑on experience with building and integrating hardware components, circuit boards, and embedded systems for custom RF sensing payloads.
  • Lead design and construction of custom RF and other sensing packages, fabricate and code control systems to operate payload packages within the modular buoy platform.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to electrical systems and components.
  • Assist with defining system interfaces and APIs for enabling interactions across applications and sub‑systems
  • Perform trade‑off analysis on power, weight, and other attributes to determine sensor package requirements.
  • Evaluate and document system specific modularity and interoperability between systems platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Required:
  • Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 6 - 10 years’ experience supporting Department of Defense acquisitions in a systems electrical engineering role
  • Experience designing and testing AC and DC power systems
  • Experience with power conversion systems (AC/DC, DC/DC, inverters, rectifiers)
  • Experience in hardware design, prototyping, and lab validation
  • Past performance utilizing Altium or equivalent software for PCB and circuit systems design
  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools. i.e. Jira, Confluence, MS Projects
  • Strong skills in Python, MATLAB, and others relevant to system development and automation.
  • Ability to translate mission requirements into engineering designs
  • Strong technical writing (test plans, reports, white papers)
  • Experience briefing technical results to leadership
  • Independent work with minimal supervision
