POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Manager, EHS & Facilities serves as the single-site leader and accountable owner for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Facilities, providing strategic direction and operational leadership to protect employees, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain facility and equipment reliability, and enable safe, efficient business operations. This role partners closely with the Director of Operations and site leadership to establish priorities, identify and mitigate risk, and drive measurable improvements in safety, facility performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

The Sr. Manager, EHS & Facilities builds, implements, and sustains programs, systems, and standards that strengthen the site’s EHS and Facilities capabilities. This leader is responsible for translating regulatory requirements, business needs, risk assessments, and operational data into practical solutions, clear accountability, and sustainable processes. The role requires the ability to influence positive change without relying solely on direct authority, engaging frontline employees, operations leaders, support functions, contractors, vendors, and senior leadership to establish a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

This position provides leadership for EHS compliance, risk management, incident prevention and investigation, environmental programs, emergency preparedness, training, ergonomics, business continuity, facility operations, maintenance strategy, infrastructure, material handling equipment, contractors, and facility improvement projects. The Sr. Manager is accountable for developing and managing EHS and Facilities budgets, prioritizing investments based on risk and business impact, leading cross-functional projects, and ensuring resources are deployed effectively.

Success in this role is measured not only by compliance, but by sustained risk reduction, employee engagement, facility reliability, operational performance, cost effectiveness, and continuous improvement. The Sr. Manager uses data, leading and lagging indicators, audits, inspections, and business performance metrics to identify opportunities, establish priorities, measure results, and drive accountability. This leader serves as a trusted advisor to site leadership and a catalyst for building a proactive, high-performing EHS and Facilities culture aligned with AirLife’s values and business objectives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in EHS and/or Facilities within a distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or similarly complex operational environment, with the ability to lead both strategic and day-to-day site requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, implement, and sustain EHS and Facilities management systems and programs that improve employee safety, regulatory compliance, facility reliability, operational performance, and employee experience.
  • Proven ability to influence positive change across all levels of an organization, including frontline employees, operations leaders, support functions, contractors, vendors, and senior leadership, including situations where direct authority is limited.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local EHS requirements, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, sustainable operating standards.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing risk-based strategies, including hazard identification, risk assessments, corrective action, incident prevention, compliance assurance, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience leading facility operations, building infrastructure, preventive maintenance, material handling equipment, contractors, service providers, and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk, stakeholder alignment, and execution from concept through completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, analytics, leading and lagging indicators, and performance metrics toidentifytrends, prioritize risk,allocateresources, and measure program effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage operating and capital budgets, evaluate business cases, prioritize investments based on risk and business impact, andmaintainfinancial accountability.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees, senior leaders, regulatory agencies, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders and employees accountable for EHS, Facilities, and operational performance.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, develop sustainable solutions, and drive timely execution.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple projects, and maintain effective follow-through in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and work effectively with Operations, Human Resources, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Security, Corporate EHS/Facilities, and external service providers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to effectively utilize business systems, reporting tools, and data to support decision-making.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, employee engagement, and building a proactive culture of safety and accountability.

Level of Experience:

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in EHS, Facilities, Operations, or a related field, including a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading EHS and/or Facilities programs within a distribution, manufacturing,logistics, or similarly complex operational environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, managing contractors and service providers, developing budgets, and delivering measurable improvements in safety, compliance, reliability, and operational performance.

Level of Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Travel:

  • <10%. As the business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Manager Duties:

  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance management to support team development and achievement of AirLife goals.
  • Align team’s objectives with AirLife priorities, ensuring compliance, promoting a culture of accountability, and upholding AirLife values.
  • Take accountability and ownership for actively participating in recruitment processes and supporting fair treatment in disciplinary processes for your team.
  • Drive continuous improvement by fostering innovation, operational excellence, and adoption of best practices within the team.
  • Champion employee engagement, inclusion, and career development through regular check-ins, talent reviews, and succession planning.
  • Manage your team’s budget responsibly and exhibit financial accountability.

Individual Contributor Duties:

  • EHS & Regulatory Compliance:Lead site EHS programs, regulatory compliance, risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, safety training, ergonomics, environmental compliance, audits, inspections, emergency preparedness, and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery.
  • Facilities & Asset Reliability:Oversee building infrastructure, utilities, maintenance, material handling equipment, facility services, preventive and predictive maintenance, and contractor performance. Ensure the siteremainssafe, reliable, compliant, and operationally capable.
  • Projects, Capital & Resources:Lead facility improvement and capital projects from planning through completion. Manage applicable operating and capital budgets, contracts, service-level agreements, and asset lifecycle plans.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement: Partner with Operations and cross-functional leaders to address systemic risks and improve EHS and Facilities performance. Establish effective standards, strengthen processes, share best practices, and sustain corrective actions and improvements.
