Job description

Sycamore Creek Country Club is looking for individuals to join its agronomy team to assist in the maintenance and upkeep of our golf course. These positions will be available in mid to late February and run through mid-November with the full-time positions being year-round. We also have positions available June through early September for students with hours ranging from 20 to 45 hours per week based on your schedule and availability. If you enjoy the outdoors and the game of golf, then this is a wonderful place for you. Staff will participate in all daily golf course maintenance tasks including usage of mowing equipment, raking bunkers, string trimmers.

Functions

  • Operates a variety of vehicles, machines, and equipment appropriate for tasks related to maintaining the golf course.

  • Checks fluid levels in equipment daily and reports concerns to the mechanic.

  • Performs routine golf course maintenance and repair including bunkers, greens, fairways and rough.

  • Performs golf course set up including, setting tee markers, filling divots, and changing hole location.

  • Assist in project work such as installation of irrigation, drainage, sod laying, planting, and construction or renovation of greens, tees, bunkers, or cart paths.

  • Daily mowing of greens, tees, fairways and rough.

  • Operation of small power tools such as blowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers and edgers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to perform physical functions, including the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds for short distances.

  • Ability to climb, bend, balance, and traverse rough terrain.

  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral directions.

  • Ability to work under the close direction of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents.

  • Ability to work early mornings and one weekend morning a week.

  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
