Position Summary:The Data Platform Manager is a key contributor to the SPS data strategy and oversees a team of data engineers responsible for the infrastructure and operations that support the organization's data collection, storage, processing, and access. This role ensures that data engineers' efforts align with business objectives, follow best practices, and support the organization's broader data goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SPS data strategy:Collaborate with the Data & AI Solutions Director and Solution Architect to document current state, set the vision for the future state, and ensure execution against the strategic plan.

  • Data infrastructure & operations:Plan, manage, and support theselectionand use of data platform technologies, working closely with the engineering team and Solution Architect to onboardnew technologyand introduce new processes, ensuring seamless integration with other systems and applications.

  • Continuous improvement:Manage the day-to-day operations of data systems and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the team; drive automation through monitoring and tooling to enhance efficiency and reduce delivery lead time, including implementing observability frameworks such as metrics, logging, and tracing.

  • Technical guidance:Provide hands-on technical leadership and design/code reviews, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices, coding standards, and security protocols.

  • Incident & problem management:Manage and resolve technical issues affecting data pipelines and infrastructure to minimize downtime, implementing proactive measures to prevent recurring problems.

  • Collaboration &communication:Coordinate with managers and departments across Enterprise Systems and business units, developing strategies tooptimizedata operations and support enterprise AI and analytics initiatives. Communicatefrequentlyand effectively, ensuring alignment with business goals and user expectations.

  • Staff management:Establish goals and manage performance for a team of data engineers, guiding the team in designing scalable and maintainable data solutions and fostering a collaborative, high-performing, data-driven culture, including supporting team members through evolving skill sets and role expectations in an increasingly agentic environment.

  • Financial oversight:Manage budgets and schedules for the Data Platform team's projects and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, ora relatedfield.

  • Proven experience:At least 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, pipeline development, and data infrastructure architecture.

  • Team leadership:At least 3 years of experience managing data platform projects and teams, with examples of performance monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement practices.

  • Leadership skills:Strong leadership and managerial skills, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Data platforms:Experience with cloud data platforms and modern data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake).

  • Integration tools:Experience with data integration and middleware tools (e.g., Informatica), APIs, and queuing systems.

  • Communication:Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with various stakeholders, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Scienceor a related field and a minimum of 10+ years of related experience, or equivalent.

  • Professional certifications in data management, analytics, and governance (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)).

  • Experience implementing observability frameworks (metrics, logging, tracing) for data systems.

  • Experience leading teams through agentic or AI-driven transformation, including evolving roles and operating models.

  • Experience with data governance, cataloging, and data quality tooling (e.g., Atlan, Alation).

  • Experience in Retail or Supply Chain technology solutions.

The salary range for this role considers several factors, including education, relevant skills, work history, certifications, location, and more.

The annual salary range for this role is: $133,800.00-$170,000.00 + bonus & equity. The actual salary offered will bedeterminedbased on the factors listed above and may fall anywhere within the range.

Additionally, you may also be eligible toparticipatein an annual incentive program. An incentive award, if granted, is based on individual and/or organizational performance.
