Job description

Senior Manager, Engineering – Data Platform

Location: 8939 Columbine Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Telecommuting permissible from any location in the U.S.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of data storage, data management, and data engineering professionals.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands‑on expertise in data platform design and implementation.
  • Oversee the development, security, and performance of the Cylance Data Platform.
  • Ensure availability and cost‑efficiency of data infrastructure across multiple regions.
  • Manage data warehouse (Databricks), OLTP databases, OpenSearch, and ElasticCache clusters.
  • Develop data pipelines (ETL jobs), query jobs, and dashboards for data insights using Databricks notebooks (Python, Scala, SQL).
  • Research, evaluate, and implement appropriate long‑term data storage technologies for application services and the data lake.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify requirements related to ACIDity, performance, and throughput; recommend technologies and educate teams.
  • Create and maintain runbooks to enable NOC staff to respond to operational events.
  • Identify and correct cost or operational inefficiencies in existing system implementations.
  • Recruit and develop additional members of the DB operations/automation team; maintain team capabilities and business continuity.
  • Oversee software and tools development for design, infrastructure, and platforms (OS, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases).
  • Determine hardware compatibility and/or design requirements.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient function operation.
  • Provide Tier‑2 and Tier‑3 on‑call support two weeks per month.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing high‑availability solutions for Databricks in a high‑volume security telemetry environment.
  • Knowledge of EPP, EDR, and XDR data schema evolution.
  • Experience using Amazon DMS to migrate EDR data from SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle to Amazon RDS, Aurora, or DynamoDB.
  • Experience writing and maintaining Jenkins pipelines or CloudBees job configurations to streamline CI/CD.
  • Proficiency with JIRA for project management (creating and managing projects, issues, workflows).
  • Designing, implementing, and managing PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Developing and maintaining Python‑based applications, scripts, and utilities for automation.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing NoSQL databases using Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Administering and managing database platforms: installation, configuration, backup & recovery, performance tuning, high‑availability strategies.
  • Using automation technologies for infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and configuration management.
