About the Role
At Matson Logistics, pricing is more than numbers. It's about understanding customer needs, building competitive transportation solutions, and helping drive profitable growth. As a Pricing Analyst - Logistics, you'll play a critical role in developing pricing strategies, analyzing transportation costs, supporting customer opportunities, and creating solutions that balance service, efficiency, and profitability.
Working closely with Sales, Operations, customers, and transportation providers, you'll leverage market knowledge, analytical skills, and industry expertise to help position Matson as the transportation provider of choice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex logistics challenges, negotiating with carriers, and using data to drive business decisions.
What you'll do:
Pricing Strategy & Customer Solutions
  • Prepare customer bids, pricing proposals, and transportation pricing projects that support business growth and profitability.
  • Partner with customers and the Sales team to understand transportation requirements and develop competitive logistics solutions.
  • Match customer shipping needs with the most effective and efficient Matson service offerings and transportation options.
  • Develop transportation plans that optimize service, transit times, and cost while supporting customer objectives.

Market Analysis & Carrier Management
  • Analyze transportation rates, market conditions, carrier capacity, and service offerings to support pricing decisions and business opportunities.
  • Negotiate rates, service agreements, accessorial terms, and pricing structures with transportation providers.
  • Conduct RFPs and support procurement activities to secure competitive transportation solutions.
  • Identify carrier capacity solutions during challenging market conditions and help align available capacity with customer demand.

Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate transportation rates, carrier costs, and pricing information within spreadsheets, databases, and business systems.
  • Compile and maintain carrier and vendor rate information from multiple sources, including websites, communications, and transportation partners.
  • Maintain historical pricing records and rate documentation to support future analysis and decision-making.
  • Communicate rate changes, service updates, and transit schedule changes to appropriate stakeholders across the organization.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Operations, Sales, and administrative teams to improve workflow efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
  • Resolve carrier pricing discrepancies, billing issues, and transportation cost challenges.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that improve pricing accuracy, service delivery, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Provide support to other departments as business needs require.

Professional Responsibilities & Safety

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to accurately maintain and analyze data within pricing and business systems.

Extra credit if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Finance, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of transportation, logistics, pricing, carrier procurement, or related industry experience.
  • Experience negotiating transportation agreements and conducting RFP processes.
  • Knowledge of North American transportation geography and transportation networks.

The salary range is posted for this position in Illinois. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
