The Role

We have an immediate opening for a Strategic Finance Partner. In this role, you will partner with the most senior General Partners and fund leaders to strategize and drive execution for ongoing processes including both fund and management company budgeting and forecasting, reporting, other strategic operational and financial analyses, and business case development for future fund initiatives. We have opportunities across multiple verticals including our seed/venture, growth, bio and crypto funds as well as at the corporate level.

To Join Our Team, You Should Be Excited To
  • Serve as the key financial business partner and thought partner to the General Partners and Chief Operating Officers of the fund
  • Own the fund(s) financial model (P&L, BvA and Cash Flow), including budgeting, forecasting and longer-term strategic planning for fund and management company entities.
  • Develop, implement and maintain strong and robust systems and processes to support financial planning & analysis activities. Monitor data accuracy and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop systems that enable business managers to be able to satisfy their own reporting requirements.
  • Standardize processes, expedite workflows and ensure conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Continually partner and collaborate with management to achieve strong results.
  • Ability to run simultaneous engagements and processes, with a balance of responsiveness and thoughtfulness.
  • Provide support on strategic ad-hoc analysis / projects related to a16z’s priorities and initiatives.
  • Help build out a scalable strategic finance function with the ability to gain deep experience within our verticals.
  • Generate hypotheses for potential investment prioritization, allocation and value creation.
  • Demonstrates answer-first approach in planning and managing, understands the big picture, builds strong and collaborative client relationships with trust and confidence.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally across the portfolio and various operational groups within a16z.
  • Ability to quickly build trust with and connect with other team members and cross-functional partners regardless of background or financial aptitude Demonstrated personal and professional achievement.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in top-tier strategy consulting or investment banking, financial forecasting, modeling, strategic planning and financial analysis, or corporate finance experience. Experience in a high growth and/or rapid scaling environment is preferred.
  • Proven track record to multitask, apply initiative and creativity on, and lead projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or a technical field preferred but not required. MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
    This role can be based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, California or New York City, New York.
