Description
The English and Modern Languages department at Jackson State University is accepting applications for Assistant Professor of Creative Writing (Tenure Track).
Examples of Duties
  • Duties of the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including workshops; directing undergraduate and graduate theses; advising undergraduate and graduate students; and contributing to the creative and intellectual life of the department through individual and collaborative initiatives.
  • Candidates must be capable of teaching a range of courses and workshops, as well as literary subject area courses for general education students, undergraduate english majors and graduate students.
  • The ideal candidate demonstrates experience and versatility in inclusive pedagogy.
  • We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to creating a more equitable global society that supports diverse cultural experiences through their teaching, research, and service.
  • Selected candidate will maintain an active research and publishing agenda.
  • Candidate will also be required to perform departmental and university committee service, attend in-person meetings and events (i.e. commencement), and maintain a schedule for professional development.

Typical Qualifications
  • Candidates must have terminal degree (MFA, PhD) in English/Creative Writing or other relevant discipline by date of appointment.
  • Successful relevant teaching experience at the college level which can include GTA experience (3 or more years).
  • Proven publishing experience in peer-reviewed publications.
